Ramona and Beezus

I saw what I thought was a good movie last night. Ramona and Beezus is based on some number of adventures from the Beverly Cleary Ramona books. It was a funny movie, even for what seems like a children film. The acting actually showed quite a bit of subtlety and didn't feel overplayed as most children films seem to feel nowadays. The part I liked the most was that it was a movie that showed a modern family (out in 2010, about 2010) that has family values, that has troubles but works through them, and remembers what is most important. Their values don't necessarily always mimic my own through the film, but they seem like an upstanding family. The dad is awesome; I like that. For more info, see the PluggedIn review.
