That Nut's a Genius
Glenn Gould plays Bach's Goldberg Variations (in this video, 1-7). He is well-known Canadian pianist, who died in 1982, most famous for his interpretations of Bach, technical proficiency, and eccentric mannerisms. As you might notice in the video, he sings/groans/hums everything he plays. :) He's also interesting to watch because of his stance at the piano. He insisted on sitting 14 inches above the ground only in an old chair his dad had made him. The piano also had to be a certain height -- quite a bit higher than normal for pianists today. He sticks to a technique his teacher had taught him as a child: that the keys should be pulled down, not struck from above.
