Oh boy, come on 2012. The year of Pixar! Bring it, baby!
Kid History
This is very silly and fun. Be sure to check out episodes 2 and 3 as well.
Test Drive

A huge part of How To Train Your Dragon being a stunning film, as with most stunning films, has to do with the music. My friend, Jonathan, has recently been whistling a part from probably the best track of the film, Test Drive, and it has totally been stuck in my head as well now. Funny thing is that the first time he was whistling it, I thought it was part of a track from The Bourne Ultimatum, Assets and Targets, which is another fun one. No, it was from Dragon, but then we realized that they were both written by John Powell. I thought that was pretty funny/cool. What is it with Johns and great film scores?
Double Take: Is it Dan or Tobias?
April and I rented Persuasion a couple weeks ago -- finally, after April had been waiting in a virtual line as patron #67 who wanted to check it out from the library. We watched it (April actually watched it another time while I was at work. Movies are apparently good laundry folding companions.) Friday night and found ourselves comparing the likeness of one of the actors (the nefarious William Elliot, played by Tobias Menzies) to my cousin-in-law, Dan.
Monkey Island Movie?
Yes, I had heard Ron Gilbert, the game designer behind Monkey Island, once compare the Pirates of the Caribbean to the game that he had created many years before, The Secret of Monkey Island. To be sure, there are amazing similarities. Who knows!
Here are some of Ron's comments:
Tapioca
My new favorite dance. This one competes with the Bean dance.
